Things that are lame:
Lack of money
Lack of time
Not getting to see The Boy for several weeks, and even then weather permitting
Waking up in the dark and coming home in the dark
My car needing very expensive parts replaced, thus adding to the lack of money
Grad schools that take forever to give answers to the "will you let me in" question
Things that are lovely
The Boy isn't hurting as much, and only has a couple more weeks until his cast comes off, so I can fret less
I am going to finish my NaNo early
I have already had a student finish his NaNo, and will probably have another one beat me as well
I have a job that almost lets me cover my expenses
The JC Penny catalog has $20 cords that have a 37" inseam, so I will actually be able to get a new pair of work pants.
My car is fixed, and so will probably no die the next time I go to Missoula
I have thus far avoided the plague, even though I work in a school.
I suppose I can't complain too hard.

I would like to register a complaint with the office of weather. This snow and ice thing? In the beginning of October? Is not cool. Knock it off. It was 90 degrees two weeks ago! Now it is 13! Green leaves are falling off the trees!
I am just saying, an actual autumn would be nice. Sort of a transition between the blistering heat and the bitter cold. Just a thought.
Sincerely,
The one with the frozen fingers.

Two years ago, my cousin Michael McCarty's son Liam was kidnapped and taken to Italy. The kidnapper was Liam's mother, who was later found to be unfit by the Italian court. Liam was placed in an orphanage, and despite Michael's efforts, he has not been returned to his father. Mike is now trying to spread the word himself, since two years of trying to work in the system haven't worked.
I would ask you to visit www.saveliam.org for more of the story. There is also a Facebook group here, which provides updates and information about this case. Mike has been on a number of TV programs in the past few days, trying to get notice for his case. Eventually maybe someone with some influence will take an interest and Liam will be able to come home.
I would really appreciate you passing this link around. It's a really screwed up situation.

Did a day trip to Glacier yesterday, and hiked the first bit of the Highline trail. We were going to go all the way down, but we ran out of time and decided to turn around at Haystack Butte. There were quite a few people there--more than I would have expected for a Monday morning, but there were still quite a few critters to be seen. Many many scenic vistas ( under the cut )
Just spent an hour digging my car out of the snow. Blarg. The problem is, it is really wet snow--about 10 inches sitting on 6 inches of slush, which is sitting on mud. It is not cold enough to solve these problems, nor is it warm enough. Also, it is still snowing. It has been snowing for two days. Supposedly it is going to stop snowing at 6:00 tomorrow morning. We'll see.
So, in other news, I have been having a problem lately where, when typing (in any program) the cursor will randomly jump back into previously typed text, and if I'm not paying attention it makes what I write turn out gibberish. Anyone ever had that problem?

So, the other day the front page of the paper had stories about both piracy and cattle rustling. In other news, I have a new bonnet, and I need to mend my spare petticoat.
So, I painted windows at the movie theater because they were doing a big thing for the premier of this movie. Pics below the cut.

So. Happy.
I have lots to do and none of the willpower needed to do it. Woe.
...yarrr
Went hiking two days ago to Devil's Glen in what we thought was the Scapegoat wilderness but might have been the Bob Marshall, since we ran into a Bob trail crew. It was a nice hike--right on the RM Front, so the scenery was gorgeous--but it was also about 90 degrees and we were above the timber line for a while, so that was kind of tricky. We went about 10 miles round trip, though I'm pretty sure the last half mile or so was really another 20, as by that point we were out of water and were REALLY hot.

Dear Weather
Snow? Really? Do you realize that it is the middle of June? And that the trees and flowers are not really meant to be buried under drifts? Also, there was no power for three hours this morning and it was very cold. And I left my coat and boots in Missoula, not thinking that I would need them during my summer vacation.
So, Weather, I would appreciate it if you would shape the hell up and get warm. It's time. This has gone on long enough.
No love,
Me.

So, my life has been pretty exciting lately, because my apartment is infested with mice. I caught one in my trash can a couple days ago, but last night I saw another one. So now we have mouse traps and exterminator types coming on Monday. But this weekend I am totally cleaning my room as throughly as possible. Stupid mice.
On the plus side, one more week of school! And I don't really have to do anything after Monday! Whoo!

So, I have one more week of class, and then finals--like, two of them. Maybe. So, that wouldn't be so bad if all the classes without finals didn't have big papers/projects due this coming week. For instance, my twelve page paper about ecstatic prophecy in ancient Israel.
Now, I not only know very little about this subject, but I am really bad at working until right before the deadline. So even though I know that I really REALLY need to get a shitton done this weekend because I A)have to be able to present on this topic on Tuesday and therefore need some sort of text to talk about and B)cannot possibly write the entire thing the night before it's due, I just cannot get myself to actually focus on the damn thing to write it. I have five pages of notes, I have random bits of it written here and there, but I can't get myself to tie it all together into some sort of coherent whole, because I know it's not actually due until friday. ARGH! Why have I not managed to get OVER this at some point in the past four years?

It always makes me laugh to see people on the golf course that is right outside my window actually riding around in golf carts. Because seriously? The course is like, postage stamp sized. It takes me five minutes to go all the way around it to get to the mountain. And yet there are always middle aged dudes riding around it on a little cart.
So, so silly.
So, so silly.
It is snowing. Again.

Who got into the creative writing class she was whining about for several days a while ago? Me
Who passed her Spinning test and is now a fully qualified instructor? Me again.
Who was the Republican vice-presidential candidate in the 1916 election? Charles W. Fairbanks
That's all.

I've pretty much given up even pretending to work on the three big projects I have due the day after spring break. I'll do them next week. It's not like I'm going on some exotic vacation--it's my parent's house...
I should probably point out that I have not ONCE done any homework over break. But this year will be different. Really.
